Volunteer with 1st Great Wyrley Scout Group

Take on the Four Week Challenge

The Four Week Challenge is a gradual introduction to Scouts.

Week 1: Come and see what we do

  • See what we do and how we do it
  • Complete a task which isn't too big or complicated but which will create a sense of belonging
  • Communicate with volunteers afterwards

Week 2: Help out

  • Join in the fun – could you run an activity or game? Oversee an activity table?
  • After the session, try prepare an activity for next week – there are loads of great ideas on the Scout activities page or you could use your unique skills to prepare something (don't worry, we are here to help!)
  • Remember: this may feel a little scary, you have support – we will help with the activity risk assessment

Week 3: Get a little more involved

By now, hopefully you're feeling like part of the team. Get involved in everything.

Week 4: Decide is volunteering at Scouts is for you

By now, you should know if Scouts is for you or not:

  • Speak to us during or after a meeting to discuss how you found the challenge and any feedback you have
  • Would you be interested in helping again and how?
  • Do you know anyone else who would enjoy trying the challenge?
  • Most importantly, thank you for your time and effort!

Volunteering.

It's good for you.

Could you spare some free time to volunteer at our Scout Group?

This could be hands on at our weekly session and events with our Young People or behind the scenes helping to maintain the building or complete admin tasks - all tasks are important!

We have roles that work for everyone.

Reach out to us to find your place on the team via the form above.

We can't wait to hear from you!
